Anna Bendrat, Maria Curie Skłodowska University, American Studies Department, Lublin

Anna Bendrat, Ph.D., americanist and rhetorician, works at the American Studies Department of Maria Curie Skłodowska University, Lublin. Her research interests focus on the connections between rhetoric and politics (mainly in the US) and include all forms of contemporary discourse which draws on modern media technologies. Assuming that the political discourse offers a range of interpretations of events and processes in the public sphere, the author examines their rhetorical function, showing the different dimensions and aspects of their meanings and symbols. She has authored a number of articles in edited volumes and journals ("How to Define Rhetoric? The Ambiguities of Theory and Practice in Contemporary Persuasive Communication", 2010; "The dispute as a political spectacle: a rhetorical actio during the Cold War", 2013) and serves as a co-editor in "Res Rhetorica".
